Tonight, Scandinavian master pianist Mathias Aspelin – a University of Oxford philosopher with a taste for metaphysics and aesthetics – performs a collection of modern jazz pieces, ‘merging an American soundscape with the Eastern and the Nordic; urban, rhythmic momentum meeting the tranquil and the lyrical’.
